noise barrier highway
Yukings · noise barrier & sound barrier manufacturer Since 2006

Curved & arc top noise barriers — engineered curved-cap profile that diffracts sound waves over the barrier top, delivering +3-8 dB additional attenuation compared to flat-top walls.

Yukings curved-top noise barriers feature an engineered arc-profile cap design that redirects diffracted sound waves over the barrier top, adding 3-8 dB of additional effective attenuation compared to equivalent-height flat-top walls. The curved cap is a non-intrusive aerodynamic shape that is visually softer than a straight top, ideal for residential and high-speed rail projects where aesthetics and diffraction control matter.

Product Overview

Curved Top Noise Barriers — Diffraction Optimized

The curved or arc-profile cap adds an engineered top geometry that bends diffracted sound waves upward, extending the effective acoustic shadow zone behind the wall. Compared with an equivalent-height straight-top barrier, the curved-cap design delivers a consistent +3 to +8 dB improvement in insertion loss, making it ideal for sensitive receptors near highways, high-speed rail lines and residential developments.

noise barrier
What is it

Engineered arc-profile cap for diffraction-controlled noise reduction.

Yukings curved-cap noise barriers combine standard modular absorption panels with a pre-formed galvanized steel or aluminum alloy arc cap. The cap height typically ranges from 300 mm to 600 mm depending on the diffraction gain required, and can be tuned per project based on the receiver height, source height and barrier distance. The aerodynamic curved shape is also HSR slipstream friendly, reducing aerodynamic lift, fatigue and wind-noise generation on the barrier face.

  • High-speed rail corridors & urban light-rail noise control
  • Residential developments close to roads and railways
  • Hospital, school and community facility noise protection
  • 300-600 mm pre-formed cap; +3 to +8 dB diffraction gain
  • Compatible with 8/10/12 mm polycarbonate transparent window sections

Frequently Asked

Curved Top Noise Barriers — FAQs

Commonly asked technical, commercial and logistics questions about Yukings curved-cap / arc-profile top noise barriers.

How does the curved-cap design deliver +3-8 dB of extra attenuation?
The curved cap changes the geometry and position of the top-edge diffraction point, bending sound rays upward as they pass over the wall top. This effectively extends the acoustic shadow zone behind the barrier. The additional attenuation depends on the cap height (300-600 mm), the source-to-barrier-to-receiver geometry, and the height of the receptor. Yukings provides project-specific acoustic simulation to verify expected diffraction gain.
Is the curved-cap design suitable for high-speed rail lines?
Yes. The curved cap provides a smooth, aerodynamic profile that reduces slipstream-induced aerodynamic lift, fatigue and wind-noise on the barrier face compared to sharp-edge geometries. The cap is also pre-formed from galvanized steel or aluminum alloy to resist repeated aerodynamic loading and fatigue cycles.
Can the curved-cap barrier include transparent polycarbonate sections?
Yes. 8 mm, 10 mm and 12 mm UV-stabilized polycarbonate transparent window sections can be integrated at any vertical position within the standard modular panel frame, independent of the cap geometry. The curved cap assembly sits on top of the panel column and does not affect the transparent window installation.
What cap dimensions are available, and can you tune them per project?
Standard cap heights range from 300 mm to 600 mm. Cap projection and radius are fully project-tunable based on your source/receiver geometry and required attenuation. Yukings can provide acoustic simulation, cap-sizing guidance and fabrication drawings to support tender submissions.
What test certificates and documentation do you provide for tenders?
Yukings provides EN 1793 insertion loss, EN 1794 airborne sound insulation, EN ISO 717-1 Rw, EN 13501-1 fire rating, EN 1991-1-4 wind load calculation, full CE marking documentation and project-specific diffraction gain simulation reports with every curved-top noise barrier project.
